Manila Zoo: Up-Close Animal Encounters

Saturday, January 31, 2015
Manila Zoological and Botanical Gardens or Manila Zoo is a popular attraction for both tourists and residents of Manila. It is home to many animals like tigers, elephant, monkeys, lion, eagles, snakes, crocodiles, turtles, hippopotamus, deers and many more. Here's what me and my husband did to get there.

How to Get to Manila Zoo

1. From Buendia, we have taken a jeepney ride to Quirino
2. From there, we have taken another jeepney ride going to Harrison Plaza (Dakota H. Plaza Jeepneys) and asked the driver to drop us down at the Manila Zoo.

Inside the Manila Zoo

The first animal we have seen is Mali the Elephant. Then we checked the Kinder Zoo where different activities are offered for a separate fee.

Kinder Zoo

My husband wants to take pictures with different animals so, we get inside the Kinder Zoo. We paid another 100php/person so we can touch and carry the baby crocodile and take pictures with parrots and other birds. For a package of activities like wall climbing, zip line ride, swimming, horse back riding, bird feeding, fish feeding and many others, the fee is 250php.

Here are some pictures taken inside the Kinder Zoo.

After exploring Kinder Zoo, we have taken pictures of other animals that can be found inside the Manila Zoo. The hippopotamus is one of my favorites.

RDO 38 North, Quezon City

Friday, January 30, 2015
Last January 22, 2015, Thursday, I went to RDO (Revenue District Office) 38 at the West Venue Building, 112 West Avenue, Quezon City. To get there, I ride a train from Boni MRT3 Station to Trinoma MRT3 Station then take a jeepney ride going to BIR West Ave.

Since there is no available jeepney (Kalaw - Quiapo Route) at the Trinoma Transport Terminal, I was advised by one of the van drivers to just wait for jeepneys in front of SM City North EDSA.

BIR 38  and 28 offices are just in front of St. Vincent School. As expected, the office is filled with people. I waited for around 80 minutes for my number to be called only to find out that my TIN record is still at RDO 48 in Makati. So, one of these days I will go there.

NAIA Terminal 2

Sunday, January 11, 2015
Today, I went to the NAIA airport (PAL) Terminal 2 with my family to pick up my mom. It is a little crowded but I like this airport compared to NAIA Terminal 1. I like taking pictures of different places so, here are some shots I have taken today.

How to Get to NSO East Avenue, Quezon City from Pacita Complex

Last January 15, 2014, I went to NSO East Avenue, Quezon City. It is my first time to go to that area by riding on a bus and train so I thought of blogging about how I get there without hassles. Thanks to Google Maps and GPS. Here's how I get there by commuting from Pacita Complex in San Pedro, Laguna.

Directions

From Pacita Complex, I ride a bus going to Mantrade/Magallanes MRT3 Station. I then take an MRT3 train ride from Magallanes and get off to GMA-Kamuning Station. Since NSO is near GMA-Kamuning Station, I just walked to get there.

NSO Area A

I didn't expect the place to be so crowded. Part of my plan for the day is to get a copy of my daughter's NSO birth certificate but upon seeing the long line inside, I just decided to request the document online at e-Census.

Releasing Day - January 26, 2015

As indicated in my receipt, I went back to NSO Area B Office before 1:00PM. My husband's name was called and got our NSO marriage certificate around 2:10PM. During that more than an hour waiting time, I felt a bit worried as the woman sitting beside me told me that she's been waiting for three hours already as her document cannot be found. So, I hoped and prayed that there won't be any problem in getting my marriage certificate as I do not want to go back there again.

Splash Island: Real Fun and Splashing Moments

Saturday, January 10, 2015
Before the year 2014 ended, me and my husband decided to make splashing moments at the Splash Island in Binan, Laguna. So, my husband purchased three (3) vouchers for the family through Metrodeal for 299 pesos each. We just presented the vouchers to the entrance and we got our All-Day Pass tickets, which entitled us to unlimited usage of all swimming pools, slides and fun rides.

My husband needs sunscreen so the moment we get in, we checked the Souvenir Shop. Among the items that can be purchased at the souvenir store include swimsuits, slippers, hats, shirts and many other mementos that come with a real sense of place.

Splash Island has more than 15 attractions. Some of these are named Rio Montanosa, Dos Supremos, King Pilipit, Magellans Drop, The Harbor, Water Wahoo, Balsa River, Big Bamboo, Curl of the Orient and many others.

The Harbor

We did not rented a hut as there are many tents with tables and chairs that can be used free of charge. Cabanas rates range from 1,000 pesos to 5,000 pesos. Lockers are available for 100 pesos.

Since my husband is seeking pure relaxation, we floated our cares away at the slow moving, meandering Balsa River.

We then enjoyed kayaking for an hour. Kayak and kiddie boats can be used for a fee of 100 pesos/hr.

Although, bringing of foods is not allowed within the waterpark, there are lots of food choices inside, so we grabbed a bite at the foodcourt. The price of meals range from 80 pesos to 200 pesos. I ordered liempo for 150 pesos and green mangoes with bagoong for 70 pesos.

After lunch, we spent the day trying out different slides and enjoyed the wave pool.

We left the waterpark at 5:30PM as its operating hours is only up to 6:00PM.
